Here is information on some recommended races you may be interested in. Check with your coach first if you are in a season. Don't forget to wear your Flash singlet if you want to wear it, and as always- family members are encouraged to join us!
12/10 -
HOLIDAY NIGHT RUN/WALK AT FREESTYLE FARM
Amherst, NH 5-7pm . FREESTYLE FARM,
188 MACK HILL ROAD, AMHERST, NH.You are invited for a night run/walk on the trails at Freestyle Farm on Saturday December 10 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. This is the night of the full moon so there should be plenty of illumination. You will be on groomed trails that can be run safely at night. Bring some friends, head lamps and marshmallows to roast and enjoy the night environment. THERE IS NO FEE FOR THIS EVENT.
Anyone making a $10 or more donation to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Northern New England will receive a long sleeve shirt - while supply lasts.
12/10 - Concord Jingle Bell Run 5K and Walk
Concord, NH 10:00AM Rundlett Middle School, 144 South Street (18th annual 5K race and walk for Arthritis)
12/11 - Beaver Brook Winter 5K
Hollis, NH 10:00AM Beaver Brook Association, 117 Ridge Road (Trek through the beautiful trails of Beaver Brook. The races are actually 4.5K, but it will FEEL like 5K!!!)
12/15 - Winter Solstice Charity Fun Run
Merrimack, NH 6:00PM. Horse Hill Nature Preserve off of Amherst Road in Merrimack. Started by Flash dad Curtis Hansen, this 1-mile trail run with point-scoring system is a great way to celebrate the solstice, with all proceeds to benefit a charity of the winner's choice. Please email Gary.Gustafson@FMR.COM if you plan on attending so they can plan properly.
12/17 - USATF Indoor Track Season
Various locations in Boston, Hanover NH and Providence RI beginning 12/17. Please email Justin if there is interest to form relay teams for the 12/31, 1/7, or 2/21 meets.
1/1/12 - Millennium Mile Road Race
Londonderry, NH 2:00PM Londonderry High School, 295 Mammoth Road (a point-to-point, downhill, 1-mile road race for all ages and abilities! Special age awards for kids 12 and under). This is usually well attended by Flash runners and families.
1/8-3/4 - Freeze Your Buns 5K Winter Series
Nashua, NH 9:00AM Conway Arena, 8 Riverside St (5K Bi-weekly Series)
This event is a 5 part, bi-weekly series. Raffle prizes will be given out weekly and age group awards will be given at the end of the Series to the top male & female point scorers in age groups. Pre-Registration: for the series (all 5 races): $20.00 for age 19 and $12 for age 18 and under. Another set of races that Flash runners have participated well at.
1/14-3/17 - WinterWild.com - Winter FUN Series-
This event is a 5 part series held at various locations. There is a ski hill series starting Jan 14th that Coach Curt and Coach Jan will be doing with other flash families. Runners 18 and under are free! Adults have a discounted rate for the series if the form is sent in ahead of time. If anyone would like to join them please look over the website.

Monday Night Series at Mine Falls-
Nashua, NH 6:30PM Stellos Stadium, 4 Riverside Street (A fun, no-frills race run along the scenic trails of Mine Falls Park)
Please join Coach Jan, Coach Mike D, and other Flash coaches, runners and alumni, for the remaining Monday night races at Mines Falls in Nashua- see details here. These are fun, low-cost 5K or 5M trail races put on by the Gate City Striders running club. Meet the coaches at the circle by Stellos Stadium by 5:45p for stretched and a warmup run prior to the 6:30pm start time. Coach Justin will run with more experienced but younger runners on a shorter loop if they want to get into some longer miles- no need to sign up. 15th Annual St Charles Childrens Home 5K
9AM Portsmouth, NH 9:00AM Martins Point Health Care, Pease International Tradeport, 161 Corporate Drive (Fast, Flat, Certified Course. Cash Prizes. Kids Fun Run and other activities).
This annual event is one of the fastest certified 5K courses anywhere around, and is probably the most personally satisfying you are likely to run. Children's activities and fun run after race. Hamburger & Hotdog cookout supplied by APPLEBEES Neighborhood Bar and Grille. With temps that are starting to cool down, the chance to run with the St. Charles nuns and kids, and awesome food post-race, this is a race you don't want to miss! Until recently, Flash athlete Aiden White had lived several years at the St. Charles Children's Home, and has been running this race since he was 4! Please join him and many other Flash runners to make this event a sucess. Sandown Old Home Days Race
Sandown, NH 9:00AM Sandown Fire Station - Main Street, Corner Of 121A And Hampstead Road (NH Grand Prix, Performance Cloth Shirt, 3 Deep Category Prizes, Post Race Raffle)
This 5 mile race is usually pretty well attended by Flash families, and should be even more so this year as a NH Grand Prix event! Flash's own Lou Saviano is race director this year, and proceeds from the race go to funding local youth programs. The cost is pretty low for a 5 miler, and there's also a 1K course for kids 11 and under. Note that the Run for Food and Shelter 5K or 10K are the first in the 2009 Kilometers for Kids series. The Kilometers for Kids Series is comprised of four unique area races:
1) NSKS Run for Food & Shelter 10K or 5K 4/5/09
2) PAL Mine Falls River Run 6/27/09
3) Wild Rover 5K, Manchester, NH 9/13/09
4) Race for the Fallen, Manchester, NH 10/18/09
There is no charge for entering the Series; however individual race entry fees still apply. Participants must complete all four races in 2009 to receive the series prize. You must use the EXACT same name on all four registrations in order to get credit for each race series. Deluxe runner’s backpack with series logo or similar item awarded to runners who complete all four 2009 races in the Kilometers for Kids Series.

A group of Flash runners will be going to watch this exciting race--the first time ever the U.S. Olympic marathon trials will be held in Boston. Come see Deena Kastor and Joan Benoit-Samuelson, as well as many other national favorites run for our country. The course details and exactly where we will watch are being organized by Coach Cathy. She will have a special viewing spot with her Brooks Team. http://www.bostonmarathon.org/ We know that this is a school day for most of you but a group of Flash runners will be watching Coaches Jan and Justin Platt, who are official entrants in this year's marathon. The Lynch’s dad Kevin and Michael DeChane (Tyler's dad and next seasons Flash Midget Boys coach) will also be competing. All have trained incredibly hard. With two year age groups, there are 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize awards for boys and girls between ages 10 to 19 and a 9 and under category. A high percentage of school-age kids run. Kids are encouraged to participate. It is the perfect place for a first time 5k runner to participate with mom and dad. A reduced entry fee is offered to runners age 17 and under. Youth running programs such as the Nashua PAL runners and The Granite State Flash enjoyed the race venue last year. Jr. High School Teams: Prizes for boys, girls and mixed teams (3 places deep) Teams: Three to five runners per team, best three times score.
