8:00 A.M. U.S. Olympic Women’s Trials

Boston, MA

A group of Flash runners will be going to watch this exciting race--the first time ever the U.S. Olympic marathon trials will be held in Boston. Come see Deena Kastor and Joan Benoit-Samuelson, as well as many other national favorites run for our country. 16th Annual Heartbreak Hill International Youth Race (1 mile on Heartbreak Hill)

Boston, MA 

The race is run on the famous Heartbreak Hill.   Many Flash runners have won this race over the years.  See race website at http://newtonpride.org/roadrace.html  Please let Coach Jan know if you are going to run. coachplatt@comcast.net . Please note that your race time depends on your age- check the website for details. This is a race you don’t want to miss. Combine this with the Olympic Trials and you’ll have a day to remember!

10 A.M. 112th Boston Marathon

Newton City Hall, MA

http://www.bostonmarathon.org/  We know that this is a school day for most of you but a group of Flash runners will be watching Coaches Jan and Justin Platt, who are official entrants in this year's marathon.  The Lynch’s dad Kevin and Michael DeChane (Tyler's dad and next seasons Flash Midget Boys coach) will also be competing.  All have trained incredibly hard.  If you can attend and want to watch with us, please contact Mike at cmerra@comcast.net.  We are tentatively planning to watch near Newton City Hall.

6:30 PM 12th Annual Hollis Apple Country Fast 5K

Hollis, NH


With two year age groups, there are 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize awards for boys and girls between ages 10 to 19 and a 9 and under category. A high percentage of school-age kids run. Kids are encouraged to participate. It is the perfect place for a first time 5k runner to participate with mom and dad. A reduced entry fee is offered to runners age 17 and under. Youth running programs such as the Nashua PAL runners and The Granite State Flash enjoyed the race venue last year. Jr. High School Teams: Prizes for boys, girls and mixed teams (3 places deep) Teams: Three to five runners per team, best three times score.
